Students explain the fundamental principles and moral values of American democracy as expressed in the U.S Constitution and other essential documents of American democracy. Students analyze the unique roles and responsibilities of the three branches of government as established by the U.S Constitution. Students analyze and compare the powers and procedures of the national, state, tribal, and local governments.
Important Details
* There are six basic principle in the constitution which are popular sovereignty, Limited Government, Separation of Powers, Checks and Balances, Judicial Review, and Federalism. The six basic principle work in together along with the three branches of government which are known as the legislative, executive and the judicial.
Summary
In government society makes the laws and also enforces them. The government has three types of powers starting with Legislative Power which has the power to establish a new law, second the Executive Power which can carry out a law and last but not least the Judicial Power which interprets the laws and settles disputes. This powers are in the constitution. When the new constitution was going to be made there were 2 plans The Virginia Plan which wanted three branches of government and the New Jersey Plan which wanted a government without separate branches. With the Virginia Plan many small states opposed to it because they did not want to be dominated by the larger states so they came up with the Connecticut Compromise which had a little bit of both the Virginia Plan and New Jersey Plan. When the constitution was being ratified there were people who favored which were called the federalist and people who opposed it which were called the anti-federalists.
